SSM College of Engineering and Technology holds a one day plantation drive

SRINAGAR: The Dean Student Welfare, SSM College of Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell, organized a one-day plantation drive in the college premises.

The campaign’s main aim was to get people's mind in environmental activities through a plantation drive for contributing more and more to the nature.

In the inaugural speech, Er. Mohd Asharaf Fazali, Retd. Chief Engineer and Member of American Society of Civil Engineers, threw some light on the importance of such plantation drives and enlightened the gathering about why to take part in such activities and that how to work for the nature and the betterment of society.



Gathered up for the same noble cause, renowned personalities from various fields spoke on the same issues and stressed on the importance of protecting the environment.

The guest speakers included Ms. Dilafroze Qazi, VCP SSM College, Taufeeq Kishtawari from Fatima Zehra Helping Hands (NGO), Er. Firdous Ahad Bhat, President JK Mechanical Engineers Association, Registrar SSM, N.A Shah and Technical Registrar N.A Shah along with Mr. Rufai, Principal Polytechnic SSM College, who presented the Vote of Thanks, to name a few.

Besides guests, the students also participated in the drive enthusiastically and helped the gathering to plant the saplings. All the saplings were planted in the college premises.

The plantation drive aimed of planting almost 500 saplings but due the the bad weather couldn't do so but drive initiated the step to contribute to the nature and promised to plant the rest with time and encourage others to do the same. The saplings planted included Deodar and Cypress.
