Awareness campaign carried out to prevent illicit cultivation of poppy in south Kashmir

Pulwama: With a view to preventing the illicit cultivation of poppy (bhang), a team of Excise officials of Excise Range Anantnag-Pulwama-Shopian-Kulgam carried out an awareness campaign involving religious heads/Imams in Tengpuna area of  Pulwama district and Daramdor Tehsil Keegam of Shopian district.

The awareness focussed on involving the religious heads with the purpose to create massive awareness, preventive education and the objective of mobilising the community.

It was significant for promoting awareness and collective initiative towards the prevention of illicit cultivation of poppy.

These awareness campaigns will continue as a focussed preventive measure to curb the menace of illicit cultivation of poppy.
