HDFC Bank launches Corporate Cricket League in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: HDFC Bank today announced the launch of a Corporate Cricket League in Kashmir to celebrate the spirit of the game in the valley and give young and promising talents from corporate houses and government institutions an opportunity to showcase their skills.

The tournament was inaugurated by Muhammad Aijaz, District Development Commissioner of Srinagar, along with Iftikhar Ahmed, Senior Vice President and Circle Head – Kashmir, HDFC Bank. The games will be played at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Stadium in Srinagar.

Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation will be the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony and will give away the awards at the end of the tournament.

The tournament will see participation from eight teams. The participation is only by invitation. The teams that will participate in the tournament are District Development Commissioner Team, Secretariat Team, Government Medical College Team, Regional Passport Office Team, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Team, Lower Court Team and HDFC Bank Team.

Commenting on the launch of the Corporate Cricket League, DC Srinagar Aijaz Asad said that sports is lifeline and very important part of life.

Iftikhar Ahmed, Senior Vice President and Circle Head – Kashmir, HDFC Bank, said: "For the first time, HDFC Bank will be hosting a cricket tournament at this scale. The bank has always been a pioneer in improving the quality of life in the communities and geographies it serves."

"Corporate employees hardly get time to indulge in sporting activities. This initiative will provide a platform to the participating players to compete with their colleagues through a game they love," he added.
