GDC Pulwama organizes webinar on 'Gender Equality'

PULWAMA: Government Degree College Pulwama, also known as GDC Pulwama, organised a webinar on " Gender Equity - Moving beyond Rhetoric'.

The webinar, on August 08, 2020, was organised by  Debates and Seminar Committee of the college in collaboration with Women Development Cell.

It was inaugurated by Prof Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, who impressed upon the need to realise the importance of gender equity in the times when women feel subjugated and discriminated.

Prof Yasmeen Gull, Convenor Women Development Cell, gave an elaborate presentation on different hurdles that dog women in their different pursuits and she, thus, emphasised the need to realise that women be given a level-playing field.

Prof Jon Mohammad, Convenor Debate and Seminar Committee, in his presentation, enumerated the instances where rhetoric has taken over the action. He further elaborated as to how a particular usage  language and rhetoric have  morphed into a different discourse on women empowerment.

At the end, Principal Government Degree College Pulwama, Prof Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, appreciated the participants for their active participation and the organisers for organising the webinar on the pressing issue of Gender Equity.
