COVID-19: Public meeting held after spike in cases at Rahmoo Pulwama

PULWAMA: As COVID-19 cases showed a spike in Rahmoo village of Pulwama district, Tehsildar Rajpora Raqib Ahmad along with Health Department officials today conducted a public meeting at Government Girls Upper Primary School Rahmoo Pulwama.

The meeting was held to inform the masses regarding the ongoing pandemic.
The Tehsildar informed shopkeepers to observe highest level of precautions while dealing with the customers. He also emphasised that in this tough time, people must show enough maturity and cooperate with health officials and surveillance teams to curb the spread of the pathogen.

After continued demands from the locals for a quarantine centre in close vicinity of the village, he also assured the masses that he will take up the issue with the district administration and hopefully, a quarantine centre in the outskirts of Rahmoo village for the convenience of the affected people will be set up.
People of the village hailed this initiative of Tehsil administration. "People attended the program and assured that they will cooperate fully with the administration," an official said.

Zonal Medical Officer, PHC Rahmoo, Dr Gulzar Ahmad asked the local residents to "always wear a face mask and become habitual of using hand sanitizers" given the increasing positive cases of COVID-19 in the village. He also advised them to avoid gatherings and help the health officials with inputs like travel history and also in contact tracing.
